Small everyday expenses: how to spot them and what they cost per month
The small daily expenses you don't notice but that add up: how to find them in your transactions and what to do about them without making yourself miserable.
What they are
They are small, frequent expenses — a coffee, a snack, an app, a fee — that on their own seem like nothing, but repeated daily add up to a noticeable part of the month.
How to find them
- Go through last month's transactions and mark everything under a few euros that repeats.
- Group them by category: eating out, one-off transport, subscriptions, apps, ATM fees.
- Multiply: what you spend per week by four, and by twelve to see the year.
What to do without making yourself miserable
It's not about cutting everything: it's about deciding what is worth it. Keep what you really enjoy and cut what you do out of habit. Forgotten subscriptions and cash withdrawal fees are usually the easiest to drop.
Illustrative example: €3 a day is about €90 a month, that is, about €1,080 a year. The figure isn't a statistic: it's just arithmetic so you can see the effect of repetition.
Seeing them at a glance
If you record each expense with its category, Remesia shows you where the month goes and how much you've spent compared with what was planned, so the small expenses come to light on their own.
